Microsoft has launched a new program known as ‘Student Advantage’ which is geared towards providing students with free access to Office 365. Starting December, 1st, 2013, Universities that license Office 365 Education for their staff and faculty members will also be able to provide their students with Office 365 for free. This means that students will be able to benefit from the cloud based Microsoft Office suite and its applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, Publisher and Microsoft Lync.

How To Get Office 365 For Free if You’re A Student?

While there are various free alternatives to MS Office suite, however, suites like MS Office, Office RT and Office 365 still provide unmatched support for famous Office formats like PPT, PPTX, Doc, Docx, Xls, Xlsx and others. Furthermore, Office 365 serves as a favorite productivity suite for 110 million students, faculty and staff members via Office 365 Education.

Office 365 University usually costs $80 with a 4 year student subscription, which is supposed to be a discount from the usual $99 per year subscription for Office 365 Home Premium. However, from December, 1st onwards universities that license Office Professional Plus or Office 365 ProPlus will be able to provide access to their students at no extra cost.
