Difference between Office 365 and Office 2013

Last September, Microsoft announced the biggest update for Microsoft Office 365/Microsoft office 2013, the new cloud based Microsoft Office. Here are a few significant updates announced by Microsoft.

Office 2013 and 365

New Touch Screen Integration in Office 365

The new Microsoft Office Suite is designed to support touch screen devices like tablets and sports the metro UI of Windows 8. The new Office suite will be supporting all Apple and Google devices very soon.

Sky Drive Integration:

They have very sharply related the Office 365 and Office 2013 by their cloud service SkyDrive. You can simply say that this might be an answer to the Google Docs or Apple’s iWork Cloud Service. You can now easily switch all your work and files in cloud and access from anywhere with Office 2013 suite.

Office On Demand:

This is the most amazing and awaited feature which  is revealed by Microsoft. Yeah the new Office 365 will be having option to stream apps from Office 265 suite to other devices. This feature in not available on the client based Microsoft Office 2013 suite. Even this service points about the differences between Office 365 and Office 2013, this is just not a name game.

You just need to subscribe to the new Office 365 and you will be able to “stream” Office apps temporarily to desktops or tablets running Windows 7 or 8. Whether you’re on roads or on high mountains, you can easily access to your apps, documents, and settings.

Difference between Office 365 and Office 2013

Office 2013

In very simple language Office 2013 is nothing but the desktop software update to Office 2010 which you used previously. As it is a update it offers a huge numbers of enhancements like some I mentioned above i.e SkyDrive and even there is a huge enhancement in the graphics too. The coolest feature of Office 2013 is the ability to save your exact location in the doc – that mean now,  you can continue where you left off.

The single user, single PC version of Office 2013 Home & Student is priced at $119.99. If you bought Office 2010 after October 19 or buy it before April 30, 2013, you can get a free upgrade to Office 2013. Because it is still in the preview mode.

Office 365

It is a subscription service to Office. That is you need not to buy the product completely, you can just subscribe to the whole pack for a year, which is priced around $100. Office 365 also includes the Publisher and Access with the common Office products like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. But this pro pack will cost you almost $400. The Office 365 subscription also includes SkyDrive as I mentioned above with 20GB of extra storage and even 1 hour of Skype Call with a 5 user licence.
