PowerPoint Viewer in Dropbox

We already wrote about Dropbox, an online cloud storage service that gives you 2Gb for free to share files online or use it as a personal storage in the cloud. You can use this service as a free alternative to SkyDrive or even other cloud storage solutions.

Here is a preview of one of the internal slides for this awesome PowerPoint template for businesses. As far as we can see, the internal process of displaying this kind of files involves a previous conversion from the PPTX or PPT to PDF. Actually, the viewer we can see when the browser is opened is the same used for PDF documents in the browser, at least in Chrome.

If you have a Dropbox account then you can easily preview your PPT presentations (or other documents) using your smartphone or the web browser.

In order to accomplish this, follow the steps below:

  1. Select the Dropbox tab at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap the file you’d like to open in another app.
  3. Press the icon depicting an arrow exiting a box at the top far right.

The Open in… button is highlighted in green A list of apps that are capable of opening the file will appear in the resulting menu. Select the app you’d like to open the file.

This is a great way to preview documents and PowerPoint presentations using Dropbox.
