Accordingly to the news, seems like cybercriminals believed that the world is not going to end today as was anticipated by many prophets and Mayas empire (December 21th, 2012). Everyone is talking on social networks about the end of the world predictions, but if you are a PowerPoint user then you should be aware that the cyber criminals started to spread their own PowerPoint presentation regarding the world end. Unfortunately, the PPT is hiding a malware.

This good pick was from Sophos Lab who discovered a PPT file titled Will the world end in 2012? containing a macro-enabled script that will drop an executable file called VBA[X].exe

This is similar to the Excel Sudoku generator malware, but the difference here is that to open PowerPoint you need to approve to enable macros.

According to researchers, the EXE file extracts another Windows PE file which downloads a picture of an owl, then contacts a command and control server. It is designed to download another payload it will rename as Wmupdate.exe.
