Free Tree Diagram for PowerPoint Presentations

Branch Tree diagrams are great to show hierarchies, classification, org chart, family trees and other relationships that can be represented and modeled in a tree. Normally, the branch tree diagrams consists of a root node with two or more divisions. Each individual division can have a variable number of additional divisions branching and creating a tree. This way, the lower boxes are part of a topic under one level.

Even if we are representing tree diagrams from top to down, you can easily mirror the diagram and add the main node in the bottom instead. Normally the family trees are representing with the root node on the bottom (see How to create a family tree in Microsoft PowerPoint for more information or download Genealogy PowerPoint Template).

Example: US Government Structure using Tree Hierarchy Diagram

You can use branching tree diagrams or just tree diagram to model hierarchies but also to show taxonomies and classifications. For example, the US government structure and hierarchy can be modeled using a US government diagram based on a tree diagram. This way, the US Government will be on top of the tree and then you will see three branches for Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Here is an example with clickable diagram that we have used to represent the US government structure in a PowerPoint slide. When you click on a branch or node then you will be redirected to the Whitehouse.gov website.

Branching diagrams can be very good representing hierarchical data. For example, if you need to prepare a course on History or convey a message to certain audience, a Graphic Organizer like a Branching Diagram can help to visualize the message easily.

Example: Strategy Map Template for PowerPoint using Tree Diagrams

Another useful example about how to use Hierarchy diagrams like tree diagrams is to model a Strategy Map. In this example we have used a tree diagram to model the different perspectives that you can find in a Strategy Map.

Finally, the tree diagrams can be very helpful to represent taxonomies and classifications using PowerPoint. You can download this example template for free below, but if you are interested to make your own tree diagrams in PowerPoint 2010 or 2013 you should know that PowerPoint also let you create this kind of diagrams with SmartArt graphics, see a real example in the ROIC tree diagram.
